The Focus of Our Efforts

Teacher and Students in Science Class

Project Empower's core values lie in bringing STEM education and resources to underrepresented groups. Through education and outreach efforts, Project Empower works to implements STEM after-school programs in elementary and middle schools, particularly under-resourced and highly-minority populated schools. Through donations, Project Empower is able to gift these schools with the STEM materials and resources needed to complete our 15 week STEM-intensive curriculum. Kids love our programs! We've heard from our academic partners that their students beg our group of volunteers to come back every week!

From learning about the states of matter by making slime and lava lamps to learning about engineering and Newton's laws by making candy towers and bottle rockets, our curriculum provides kids with a one of a kind engaging and creative STEM experience. We provide enriching curriculums for both the school year and the summer (one even includes an exciting end of session science fair!). We are super flexible, and we are happy to accommodate to your wishes!

Here's what the after-school director at Nuestro Mundo Elementary School had to say about our program:

"I wanted to personally thank you for everything you peeps do!

Our kids love you a bunch! every friday they ask if you will be there!"

Teacher & Student

Through our Support Services, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at Project Empower, and a source of much success for our organization. Here at Project Empower, we offer STEM peer mentoring for students who are interested in pursuing STEM extracurriculars, especially for students from minority or underserved backgrounds. If you or your child is interested in STEM, let us know! We'll connect you with one of our team members, who will provide you with a list of STEM opportunities in your community, a recommended plan of study, and several pieces of advice considering success in STEM!

Many of our team members have been accepted to the nation's top universities, including Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Emory, Northwestern, the University of Michigan, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Chicago as STEM majors. Our members have also participated in research and internships at the University of Wisconsin, Georgetown University, and the University of Chicago. Our members are excited to work as cheerleaders and mentors to other students on their STEM journey!
